Mag-mount VHF & UHF Antennas

Every vehicle will have a 2-meter (VHF) 'data radio', which will pass GPS location beacons. Most of the vehicles will also be equipped with either a 2-meter, a 70-cm (UHF), or a Dual-band (2-m and 440 MHz) 'voice radio', to allow a communicator in the vehicle to pass voice traffic as needed. (Since the primary frequency plan is to use a VHF simplex frequency for APRS, and a VHF repeater for voice operations, our current plan is to have two VHF (or one VHF and one UHF) antennas per vehicle.)

Every vehicle in use will also be a rental car, so we can't drill any holes.

The plan for antennas is to collect as many magnetic antenna mounts as we can, standardizing on the NMO (Motorola-style, screw-on base) antenna connectors. We will also need to collect as many 2-meter half-wave, and 2-m/70-cm dual-band antennas as possile, for use with these magnetic mount bases. (Any half-wave antennas can be used on vehicles with fiberglass roof components, since they won't require a ground-plane, and will be taped down.)

Most of our antennas are loaners from local Hams, but we need many more this year than in previous years (because we will be backing 5 teams). If you know anyone who can loan or donate some antennas that meet the above criteria, please get in touch by email!
