TNC Data Interconnect

The schematic below shows the basic format of the interconnect. The power connectors are the 'defacto standard' power connectors, 2-pin, polarized molex connectors. Our use here differs from the 'standard' in the Santa Clara Valley Section. We use the indexed contact ("the pointed side") for the positive lead. (The male molex connector has the FEMALE contacts, and the female connector uses the MALE contacts!)

For the AEA PK-12, PK-80, and most other "TNC-2 clones", the data jack is a female DB-25 connector. The data adapter is a DB-25 male connector, in a single housing, connected to a female 1/8" stereo mini-phone jack. Power is injected by a male-to-female 'pass-through' cable, using 12" leads, and heat-shrink where possible.

The schematic for this is shown below. The data cables are separate from the power cables. (The power connector can be a pass-through tap at the power source.)
